Welcome to the UMBC Social Work Program’s resource hub for current
students. Here you’ll find everything you need to stay on track —
from scheduling your advising appointment to getting involved on
campus.
Advising & Registration
All declared Social Work students are assigned to a faculty advisor.
You must be advised before registering each semester.
Advising announcements are sent through the department listserv, and
appointments are scheduled via Google Calendar using your UMBC email
address.

UMBC Social Work Listserv
All current Social Work majors are required to subscribe to the
department listserv. This is the primary channel for advising
announcements, program updates, and department news.

Student Organizations
Social Work Student Association (SWSA)
SWSA connects Social Work students through professional development,
community service, and advocacy. All Social Work majors are encouraged
to participate.
Phi Alpha Honor Society
Phi Alpha recognizes academic excellence in Social Work students.
Eligible students are invited to join based on GPA and program standing.
