After earning her MSW in 1990, Dia built a diverse social work career spanning outpatient and inpatient mental health, juvenile justice with the DC government, medical social work, hospice care, and private practice. She later transitioned into local politics, becoming Mayor of Glen Echo, Maryland. She also serves as Chair of the Montgomery County Mayors and as a Commissioner on the Montgomery County Human Rights Commission.
Dia’s career demonstrates how social work can extend beyond clinical practice and open doors to leadership, public service, and community advocacy.
