In memory of their mother, Lillian Lynch, her family wants to honor her strength, tenacity and dedication. After raising three children as a single mother, Mrs. Lynch returned to college at the age of 50 and completed an undergraduate degree and a masters degree in social work.
This $1,000 award is available to a UMBC social work student who is entering field placement in the fall. An eligible candidate is:
- A student studying Social Work as a second career
- A single parent
- Entering their field placement in their next fall semester

offering insight into your personal / professional journey that led you to the field of social work as a second career. Please highlight areas of strength and commitment to the field of social work and how being a single parent has impacted you.
